Edmonton Police Seek SUV in Targeted Shooting That Killed Two Punjabi Men

Autopsies are scheduled this week with no arrests announced.

  • Officers responded around 1:43 a.m. on Dec. 12 to 32 Street and 26 Avenue and found two men with gunshot wounds who were pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Relatives identified the victims as Gurdeep Singh, 27, of Bareh, and Ranveer (also reported as Ranbir) Singh, 18–19, of Uddat Saidewala in Punjab.
  • Investigators asked residents near Silverberry Road and 23 Avenue and near 34 Street and 29 Street to share dashcam or security video from Dec. 11, 2 p.m., to Dec. 12, 2:30 a.m.
  • Police say the attack was targeted, the EPS Homicide Section is leading the probe, and a dark-coloured SUV seen in the area is being sought.
  • Families say the pair had just left a friend’s birthday gathering and suspect mistaken identity, while police have not disclosed a motive.
