ED Summons Former West Bengal Education Secretary Manish Jain and Expelled TMC Leader Kuntal Ghosh in SSC Recruitment Probe
Investigators cite fresh leads for the new round of questioning and indicate more summons will follow this month.
Overview
- Both Manish Jain and Kuntal Ghosh have been asked to appear at the ED’s Kolkata office next week for questioning, officials said.
- Former education minister Partha Chatterjee and his associate Arpita Mukherjee have been re-summoned for March 16 and March 18, respectively.
- The ED says evidence gathered in recent weeks triggered the latest summons as the agency expands its inquiry into the SSC recruitment case.
- Ghosh was earlier arrested by the CBI and later taken into ED custody in the primary teachers’ recruitment case and is currently out on bail.
- The probe stems from earlier actions that included Chatterjee’s 2022 arrest and the reported recovery of about Rs 20 crore from Mukherjee’s residence, with subsequent bail rulings in 2024 and 2025.
