ED Files Fifth Supplementary Chargesheet in Jharkhand RWD Money-Laundering Case, Names 14 Engineers

The move broadens the probe by formally adding 14 engineers to take the tally of accused to 36.

Overview

  • The fresh prosecution complaint was filed in the Special PMLA Court in Ranchi by the ED’s Ranchi Zonal Office under sections 44 and 45 of the PMLA.
  • The agency alleges a fixed 3% commission per tender, with 1.35% routed to then minister Alamgir Alam via his personal secretary, 0.65–1% to the departmental secretary, and the balance to senior and subordinate engineers.
  • Against total tender allotments of about Rs 3,048 crore, the ED has pegged alleged proceeds of crime at more than Rs 90 crore.
  • The ED says three provisional attachment orders worth roughly Rs 44 crore have been confirmed, while about Rs 38 crore in cash and eight luxury vehicles have been seized.
  • The investigation has included 52 searches across Jharkhand, Delhi and Bihar and nine arrests, with Alamgir Alam, Sanjeev Kumar Lal and Jahangir Alam currently in judicial custody.
