ED Arrests Ex-Lodha Director, Attaches Assets in Multistate Money-Laundering Probes

The agency is pressing a coordinated PMLA drive across sectors with further evidence analysis underway.

Overview

  • Rajendra Narpatmal Lodha was arrested under the PMLA and a Mumbai special court ordered eight days of ED custody in a case alleging losses of over ₹100 crore to Lodha Developers.
  • ED allegations in the Lodha probe include diversion of funds via unauthorised asset sales and fabricated MoUs, following earlier searches that seized or froze about ₹88 crore in movable assets.
  • In the ECL-linked coal pilferage case, the ED provisionally attached ₹100.44 crore and detailed a fake “Lala pad” transport challan and a hawala-like method using currency-note serial numbers.
  • The ED attached ₹10.15 crore in Indore against Ruchi Acroni (now Steeltech), citing forged trade documents, fraudulent credit facilities and layered transfers tied to alleged UCO Bank fraud.
  • Separate orders attached ₹16.95 crore in a Bengaluru cooperative-society probe over alleged diversion of public deposits and ₹8.94 crore in an Assam disproportionate-assets case against a former official and his wife.
