Overview
- Ed Carpenter Racing announced Thursday that Christian Rasmussen has signed a multiyear deal to remain the driver of its No. 21 Chevrolet into 2027 and beyond.
- Rasmussen, 25, joined IndyCar in 2024 after winning Indy NXT and earlier ladder titles and is the only driver since 2022 to take ECR to an IndyCar victory with his 2025 Milwaukee win.
- This season has been difficult for Rasmussen as he sits 24th in the standings with no top-10 finishes so far and a best result of 14th at Phoenix.
- Team owner Ed Carpenter framed the extension as a move to preserve driver stability while the organization completes internal changes and targets the series' string of short ovals as chances to rebound.
- The deal secures Rasmussen’s seat and gives him time to convert past success—including an LMP2 class win at the 2024 Rolex 24—into better IndyCar results, which could change ECR’s competitiveness in the second half of 2026.
