Overview

  • The outbreak, declared on May 15, has reached 1,048 reported cases and 267 deaths in official DRC counts, giving a case fatality rate of about 25 percent.
  • WHO has warned that transmission is accelerating despite stepped-up response and local Ebola treatment centres are already more than 80 percent full.
  • French health authorities confirmed the first case on French soil on June 24 in a doctor returning from the DRC who was isolated on arrival and found to have a very low viral load.
