Easter Getaway to Snarl French Roads Friday, Bison Futé Warns

Overlapping school breaks are set to crowd key motorways nationwide.

Overview

  • Bison Futé, which updated its holiday forecast for Friday, expects heavy departures across France with the country in orange and Île-de-France plus Auvergne–Rhône-Alpes in red.
  • In and around Paris, traffic is set to turn very dense from late morning toward the A10 and A6 toll barriers, with outlets relaying differing safe windows to cross the region such as before 10:00 or after 23:00 on Friday and before 07:00 or after 15:00 on Saturday.
  • Authorities flag frequent bottlenecks on the A13, A10, A11, A63, A7, A8, A50, A61, A41, A42 and A43, and they urge drivers to avoid the Mont‑Blanc tunnel between 10:00 and 22:00.
  • For returns on Friday, the Mediterranean routes A7, A8, A54 and A55 should slow from mid‑afternoon into early evening, while Sunday is forecast to be calm in both directions.
  • Monday’s returns look very busy in the northwest quarter, with regions including Île-de-France, Normandie, Bretagne, Pays de la Loire, Centre‑Val de Loire and Hauts‑de‑France in red and with advice to steer clear of busy corridors through the afternoon and into the night.
