Early Voting Starts Monday for Texas May 2 Local Elections

Overview

  • Early voting, which begins Monday, April 20, runs through Tuesday, April 28 with hours and locations set by each county.
  • Mail-ballot requests are due Monday, April 20 for eligible voters, including those 65 and older, people with a disability, those out of their county, certain jailed voters, expectant parents near Election Day, and people civilly committed.
  • Election Day is Saturday, May 2, with in-person voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Most voters can cast ballots early at any site in their county, and county websites and the state’s My Voter Portal list locations and sample ballots.
  • Registration for this election closed April 2, and voters who moved should update their address with the county registrar or online to avoid problems at the polls.
