Early Vote Puts Salinas Ahead in Houston’s At-Large 4 Runoff

The contest will fill the unexpired at-large term left open by Letitia Plummer's resignation.

  • Unofficial early voting returns show Alejandra Salinas leading Dwight Boykins 56.6% to 43.4% in the citywide race for At Large Position 4.
  • The Nov. 4 special election set up the runoff after a crowded field, with Salinas at 38,183 votes and Boykins at 37,887 across Harris, Montgomery and Fort Bend counties.
  • Salinas reported raising more than $700,000 as of Dec. 5, while Boykins’ last filing in October showed about $140,000 in contributions.
  • Early voting over nine days recorded 22,389 in-person ballots and 3,514 returned mail ballots, according to unofficial Harris County Clerk totals.
  • Polls were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 156 Harris County locations, and voters in HCC District II also decided a trustee runoff between Renee Jefferson Patterson and Kathy Lynch Gunter.
