Overview
- Telangana’s EAGLE unit tracked a Bolero through roughly an 80-kilometre pursuit in remote Odisha terrain and recovered about 500 kg of marijuana after cornering the vehicle while the driver escaped.
- Officers found 115 packets—90 of 5 kg and 25 of 2 kg—inside the vehicle, and officials value the seizure and vehicle at about ₹2.3 crore.
- The vehicle was handed to Koraput district police for registration under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the driver remains at large as the probe continues.
- EAGLE’s director, Sandeep Shandilya, said the unit keeps an active presence in source regions to intercept consignments before they reach Telangana.
- The operation echoes a 2024 EAGLE seizure of a similar 500 kg consignment that was later handed to the Narcotics Control Bureau, signaling recurring trafficking routes and possible escalation to a central agency this time.
