Overview
- State and U.S. Army Corps officials said Monday that every federally funded contract for the Everglades Agricultural Area reservoir is now in place, locking in a 2029 finish.
- The Army Corps modified contracts and delegated select actions to Florida under a 2025 memorandum, enabling the state to build pump stations and the Blue Shanty Flow Way.
- Construction has begun on an inflow pump station that can move about 3 billion gallons of water a day into the reservoir, and outflow pump agreements are close to completion.
- The project is designed to store more than 78 billion gallons and to deliver up to 470 billion gallons of treated water each year to the Everglades and Florida Bay.
- Florida cites nearly $8 billion invested since 2019 and a proposed $1.4 billion for 2026, as federal and state leaders say the faster build will cut coastal discharges and improve ecosystem health.
