Dyson Launches $99 HushJet Mini Cool, Its First Handheld Fan

The low entry price signals Dyson’s push into wearable cooling against higher-priced rivals.

Overview

  • Dyson began selling the HushJet Mini Cool on Thursday for $99 in the US and £99.99 in the UK, launching in Stone/Blush with more colors slated for May and June and a phased rollout to additional markets.
  • The bladeless device weighs 212 grams with a 38 mm body and uses five speeds plus a Boost mode to deliver airflow up to 25 m/s from a 65,000 RPM brushless motor.
  • A 5,000 mAh battery is rated for up to six hours and charges by USB‑C in about three hours, and Dyson’s nozzle design aims to cut high‑pitched whine with noise levels from 52 dBA to 72.5 dBA.
  • It works handheld, on a desk, or worn on a neck dock, and it ships with a charging stand, USB‑C cable, lanyard or neck dock, and travel pouch, with optional mounts and clips due this summer.
  • The launch undercuts Shark’s $149.99 ChillPill, trading misting and a cooling plate for a lighter build and lower price, and it becomes Dyson’s most affordable consumer gadget to date.
