Overview
- Payments due on Monday 4 May will arrive on Friday 1 May, and those due on Monday 25 May will arrive on Friday 22 May, according to updated DWP guidance.
- The change covers most DWP payments, including Universal Credit, State Pension, Pension Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Child Benefit.
- Claimants do not need to contact the DWP because systems move the dates automatically, and they should check their bank account and use helplines on the next working day if money does not arrive.
- Following April’s uprating, most benefits rose by 3.8% and the full flat rate State Pension increased by 4.8% to £241.30 a week.
- State Pension paydays follow the last two digits of a National Insurance number, with 00–19 paid on Mondays through to 80–99 on Fridays, which helps show who is affected by the Monday shifts.
