Overview
- Benefit payments, which were due on Monday 25 May, will now arrive on Friday 22 May.
- The shift covers State Pension, Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance and other DWP benefits, and it also applies to HMRC-run Child Benefit and Guardian’s Allowance.
- This is a routine bank holiday change to prevent gaps when services close, and it does not increase the amount you receive.
- Since April 2026, many rates have risen, including the Universal Credit standard allowance for a single person aged 25+ to £424.90 a month and a 4.8% uplift to the State Pension.
- Claimants should check their online statements and, if a payment seems late, contact their bank first before getting in touch with DWP or HMRC.
