Overview
- The Data Protection Authority (AP) evaluated four chatbots—ChatGPT, Gemini, Mistral and Grok—using simulated voter profiles aligned to Dutch party positions.
- In more than half of cases, the tools recommended either Geert Wilders’ PVV or Frans Timmermans’ GroenLinks-PvdA regardless of the user’s stated views.
- Several parties, including the centre-right CDA, were almost never suggested even when inputs matched their platforms.
- AP deputy director Monique Verdier called the behavior a threat to the integrity of free and fair elections and urged people not to seek voting advice from chatbots.
- With the vote on 29 October and PVV leading polls, the authority issued its warning eight days ahead and asked AI providers to prevent election-advice use.
