Dublin Man Convicted of Attempted Sexual Assault of Child on Paris to Belfast Flight

Sentencing is set for April 28 following a judge-ordered report.

Overview

  • Ballymena Magistrates' Court found Ramiz Idrizi, 38, guilty of attempting to sexually assault a girl under 13 during the November 14 easyJet flight from Paris to Belfast.
  • He was also convicted of assaulting a male passenger who intervened and was acquitted of a separate charge alleging assault on the girl's mother.
  • Idrizi previously pleaded guilty to being drunk on the aircraft and to using abusive language toward cabin crew.
  • Witnesses said he drank most of five mini wine bottles, declared "I'm horny," reached toward the child's leg, and prompted crew to halt alcohol service and relocate nearby passengers.
  • District Judge Nigel Broderick deemed the civilian and crew testimony credible, released Idrizi on bail, and set sentencing for April 28 after requesting a report.
