Overview
- Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, which reported progress on Sunday, said the 1.65-kilometer Al Khaleej Street Tunnel is 80% complete.
- Crews are working around the clock and the authority is targeting an opening in the fourth quarter of 2026.
- The tunnel will carry three lanes in each direction with capacity up to 12,000 vehicles per hour to move traffic freely between Infinity Bridge and Deira.
- Work has finished 890 meters of structure with 14 excavation teams in the field after nearly 8 million injury-free hours by 1,591 staff using 221 machines.
- The tunnel anchors a 13-kilometer corridor that RTA says will serve about one million people and cut trips to 16 minutes by 2030, with a separate 1,425-meter Dubai Creek bridge and new signalized junctions boosting links.
