Dry Spell to Hold in J&K Through Feb. 16, MeT Says

Sub-zero nights persist across the valley during the Chillai Khurd period.

Overview

  • Light snow or rain remains possible at higher reaches on Feb. 6, 9, 10, 11 and 14, according to the MeT.
  • Nights run 1–3°C below the seasonal average while daytime highs sit 1–4°C above normal, producing marked day–night swings.
  • All valley stations recorded sub-zero minimums, including Srinagar at −2.5°C, Kupwara at −3.7°C, Qazigund at −2.7°C and Kokernag at −2.4°C.
  • The coldest spots included Sonamarg at −8.3°C, Gulmarg at −7.8°C and Pahalgam at −7.5°C, with Bhaderwah the coldest in Jammu at −1.5°C.
  • Mostly dry conditions are forecast on Feb. 7–8 and 12–13, with cloudy spells and a chance of gusty winds on Feb. 10.
