Dry Father's Day Daytime Turns to Widespread Overnight Rain

Evening storms could dump locally heavy rain that may flood streets and make the Monday morning commute soggy.

Overview

  • Sunshine and comfortable temperatures will prevail through Sunday afternoon, keeping most Father's Day outdoor plans dry.
  • Clouds will thicken later in the day and showers are expected to develop after sunset before becoming widespread overnight.
  • Rain will progress west to east with earlier arrivals near Mansfield and Sandusky, around 7–8 p.m. in the Cleveland metro, and closer to 10 p.m. farther south and east.
  • Forecast totals call for roughly 1–2 inches in parts of Northeast Ohio and 0.5–1 inch in much of southern Lower Michigan with isolated amounts near 1.5 inches close to the Ohio border.
  • Localized road ponding and brief urban flooding are possible overnight into Monday morning, but rain should taper by midday with drier conditions returning for Monday afternoon and evening events.
