Drukair to Route Paro–Singapore and Bangkok Flights via Guwahati Starting April
A Guwahati stopover lets Drukair refuel to work around Paro’s load penalty.
Overview
- From April 2026, Paro–Guwahati–Bangkok will run twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays with returns on Fridays and Mondays.
- The Paro–Guwahati–Singapore service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays with returns on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
- CEO Tandi Wangchuk said Paro’s high-altitude, short-runway conditions restrict payloads, making a Guwahati refuelling stop commercially sensible.
- The airline frames the move as supporting India’s Act East Policy and anticipated travel linked to the Gelephu Mindfulness City near the Assam border.
- India is upgrading road and rail links between Guwahati and Gelephu, and Drukair expects Guwahati to remain key until a planned Gelephu airport opens in three to four years.
