Drone Strike and Ambulance Ambush Kill 3 in KP as Pakistan Defends Strikes in Afghanistan

UN monitors report civilian deaths from Pakistan’s air raids, deepening a dispute with Kabul over cross-border militancy.

Overview

  • Police said a quadcopter hit an FC fort in Karak’s Bahadar Khel, and gunmen then torched ambulances carrying the wounded, killing three Federal Constabulary personnel and injuring rescue staff.
  • Security forces launched clearance operations after the Karak attacks, which authorities linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also referred to by officials as Fitna al-Khawarij.
  • Pakistan conducted intelligence-based airstrikes on February 21–22 against seven alleged TTP/ISKP sites in Nangarhar, Paktika and Khost; officials later told the Senate the raids killed more than 100 militants, with earlier tallies of about 70–80.
  • UNAMA said it received credible reports that at least 13 civilians were killed and seven injured in Nangarhar, while Afghan authorities condemned the strikes as hitting civilian and religious sites and warned of a response.
  • Domestically, ISPR reported five militants killed in an IBO in Pishin and four in Dera Ismail Khan under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign, as Pakistan’s president and prime minister praised the operations and vowed continued action.
