Driver Released Under Investigation After Liverpool HGV Crash That Killed Liz Goodall

Merseyside Police’s collision unit is seeking witness footage to help establish how the collision happened.

  • Elizabeth “Liz” Goodall, 67, was pronounced dead after being struck by a heavy goods vehicle around 10:30am near the Walton Lane, Walton Village and Walton Hall Avenue junction in Walton, Liverpool.
  • A 62-year-old man from Accrington was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
  • Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses, dashcam or CCTV, and for HGV operators to urgently review onboard video, quoting reference 26000115331.
  • Goodall’s family issued a tribute describing her as a devoted wife, mother and nana, and they are being supported by Family Liaison Officers.
  • A large cordon with tents and a green HGV at the scene closed nearby roads during initial enquiries, and the area has since reopened.
