Overview
- A man in his 70s was struck and killed on Highters Heath Lane in Kings Heath on November 4, 2025, when a stolen grey Toyota hit him and he died at the scene.
- Tyrone Clarke, 50, of Gisborne Gardens, was identified, arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while uninsured, and handling stolen goods.
- Police found the stolen Toyota badly damaged and abandoned about half a mile from the collision and say Clarke walked away before calmly calling a taxi to return home to Evesham.
- Birmingham Crown Court sentenced Clarke to six years and nine months in prison, disqualified him from driving for more than ten years and ordered an extended driving test before he can drive again.
- Investigators used CCTV, fingerprints and DNA to link Clarke to the vehicle, police say his actions were callous, and specialist officers have been supporting the victim’s family as the case closes.
