Driver Guilty of Murder in Sheffield Teen’s Death as Brother Convicted of Manslaughter

Jurors relied on CCTV of the Audi targeting e-bike riders, with sentencing set for June 4.

  • Zulkernain Ahmed, 21, was convicted of murdering 16-year-old Abdullah after a five-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
  • Ahmed was also found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm to rider La’rome Divers with intent and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to two unidentified riders.
  • His brother Armaan (Amaan) Ahmed, 27, was acquitted of murder but convicted of manslaughter and of causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Divers.
  • Another passenger, Adam Mohammed, 30, was cleared of murder, manslaughter and attempted-murder charges.
  • CCTV showed the Audi veer into the opposite carriageway to strike e-bike and moped riders before fatally hitting Abdullah, who had recently arrived from Yemen and was described by police and family as innocent; the brothers were stopped at the Port of Dover the next day, a third brother Zain Ahmed remains untraced, and sentencing will be before Mrs Justice Tipples on June 4.
