Overview
- Crews responded around 2:38 p.m. on March 16 to the Sausalito Yacht Harbor, where a vehicle was found submerged in roughly 10 feet of water.
- One person exited the vehicle before it sank, and Southern Marin Fire Protection District divers recovered the driver, who was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
- The surviving occupant was evaluated at the scene after lifesaving efforts were performed on the dock for the person pulled from the car.
- Multiple agencies assisted, a local private diver helped in the effort, and the U.S. Coast Guard was notified.
- The vehicle was hoisted from the water, environmental notifications were issued, at least one firefighter sustained minor injuries, and identities are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
