Driver Charged With Murder After Pickup Crashes Into Shively TARC Bus Stop

Authorities say the suspect admitted to drinking and will return to court as prosecutors and investigators continue to gather evidence.

Overview

  • Police say the pickup ran a red light at Dixie Highway and Rockford Lane, struck another vehicle and then veered onto the sidewalk into a TARC bus stop where people were standing.
  • The crash, which happened on Memorial Day, killed 43-year-old Danielle Cordes at the scene and left others injured; a 33-year-old woman, identified by family as Jasmine Hereford, later died at the hospital.
  • Forty-five-year-old Kevin D. Moore was arrested and charged in an arrest citation that lists murder, DUI, reckless driving, disregarding a traffic light, criminal mischief, multiple counts of assault and wanton endangerment.
  • Court records show Moore told officers he had been drinking tequila about an hour before the crash; he pleaded not guilty at arraignment and a judge set bond at $1 million.
  • The Shively Police Department says the investigation is ongoing, Moore’s next court date is June 4, and prosecutors will review evidence and witness accounts as they prepare the case.
