Overview
- A car struck multiple pedestrians at a busy crossing on Ealing Broadway on Saturday, injuring five people with three taken to hospital and two treated at the scene.
- Emergency services, including ambulance crews and London’s Air Ambulance, responded to the incident after being called at 14:29 and treated victims at the scene and in hospital.
- The driver was stopped a short time later in nearby Grange Park and identified as 34-year-old Timir Ahmed Mohamed, who has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and related driving and procedural offences.
- Mohamed was remanded in custody after a magistrates’ appearance and is due for further court listing as police carry out forensic follow-up and seek video and witness accounts under reference 4607/27JUN.
- Counter Terrorism Policing London conducted initial checks as a precaution but the Metropolitan Police say the incident is not being treated as terrorism and investigators are keeping an open mind on motive.
