Overview
- Police were called just before 12:30am on Sunday after a car hit a timber guard rail, travelled down an embankment and came to rest on the sand at Aldinga Beach.
- A 32-year-old woman was breath-tested at the scene and recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.110, which is more than twice South Australia’s legal limit of 0.05.
- The driver was uninjured despite a timber post perforating the windscreen and the vehicle was later towed from the beach.
- SA Police reported the woman for drink driving and driving without due care, issued an immediate six-month licence suspension and asked witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers as the investigation continues.
- Beyond the individual case, the crash damaged coastal guard-rail infrastructure and highlights public safety and environmental risks when vehicles leave roads near beaches.
