Dream11 Submits Revamped Free-to-Play App, Pivoting to Creator-Led Sports Platform

The move follows India’s 2025 online gaming law that curbed real-money play.

Overview

  • CEO Harsh Jain said the new Dream11 app was submitted to Google Play and the Apple App Store on Dec. 3 and that all paid contests have been stopped.
  • The phased relaunch centers on creator-led watch-alongs, bite-sized sports moments, real-time fan–creator interaction, and free-to-play fantasy experiences.
  • Dream11 plans to share most revenue with creators, charge a platform fee, support ads and in-app purchases, and add a premium ad-free option later.
  • The company has onboarded 25 creators and is initially focusing on micro and nano influencers before engaging larger creators.
  • App-store approval is pending, with the rollout positioned to capture interest around the IPL 2026 auctions and the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
