Dream Concert Hong Kong Postponed Indefinitely After Unilateral Move by Chinese Organizer

KEPA says the delay was announced unilaterally by the Chinese partner, with legal steps under review.

Overview

  • Kai Tak Sports Park posted on Jan. 31 that the Feb. 6–7 shows were postponed indefinitely and directed ticket holders to official refund notices.
  • KEPA said it tried to proceed until the last moment, received a unilateral postponement notice from the local organizer, apologized to fans and artists, and is considering contractual and legal action.
  • KEPA’s vice chair said the Chinese side cited weak ticket sales projections, with about 4,000 tickets sold since Jan. 7 for a venue that seats up to 50,000, and industry officials pointed to scheduling and lineup competition as contributing factors.
  • The lineup included EXO-CBX’s Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin, Hwasa, Taemin and The Boyz, and the Hong Kong stop had been positioned as the first official overseas edition with a planned Hunan TV broadcast into mainland China according to prior announcements.
  • The delay follows other international setbacks linked to Dream Concert and coincides with the abrupt axing of a separate Macao show, and observers note that such open-ended postponements in the region have often functioned as cancellations.
