DPS Identifies Two Devine Men Killed in Highway 83 Crash in Zavala County
A preliminary report says the car crossed the center line into a southbound semitrailer.

- Texas DPS identified the victims as Louis Perez III, 21, and Isaiah Louis Peres, 19, both from Devine.
- The collision on U.S. Highway 83 about two miles south of La Pryor happened around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday when a northbound Chevrolet moved into the opposite lane and struck a 1999 Freightliner semitrailer.
- Highway 83 closed for several hours after the crash and reopened around 2 p.m., according to local reports.
- A separate wreck on FM 1025 followed the traffic detour shortly after 8 a.m. and left one driver with serious injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
- State troopers are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
