Downtown Vision CEO Jake Gordon to Step Down on Sept. 30

COO Eric Miller will serve as interim chief pending a board-led search for a permanent successor.

Overview

  • Downtown Vision announced Tuesday that Jake Gordon will leave the CEO role effective Sept. 30, 2026 and will remain to manage a structured transition through the end of the fiscal year.
  • The board’s executive committee approved a transition plan on July 2 and the organization named Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel Eric Miller as interim CEO.
  • DVI said Gordon will stay in place to ensure events, ambassador services and other downtown programs continue without interruption during the handover.
  • Gordon led the organization for more than 11 years, expanding its annual budget from about $1.1 million in 2015 to nearly $5 million, moving DVI into a $3 million West Duval Street headquarters in 2024, and launching signature programs such as Sip & Stroll and Jax River Jams.
  • Local coverage framed the departure as the latest in a series of recent executive exits at Jacksonville-linked agencies and noted the board has not yet announced a timetable for naming a permanent successor.
