Overview
- Police say Jonathan G. Newcomb, 53, approached a parked state trooper Thursday in a lot off Dover Point Road near Route 16 while holding a stick and a metal tool.
- As the trooper tried to identify him, Newcomb allegedly punched the trooper, tore his uniform, and tried to take his gun before the trooper subdued him with help from bystanders after a prolonged struggle.
- Both men were evaluated at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for minor injuries and were released.
- Newcomb was booked at the Strafford County Jail and was arraigned Friday in Dover District Court.
