Overview
- Doug Band appeared for a voluntary, closed-door transcribed interview with the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday and the committee said a reviewed, redacted transcript will be published later.
- Justice Department files released this year show extensive Band correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell from 2002–2006 that used flirtatious nicknames and arranged meetings, and also record his attendance at a 2003 dinner at Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse.
- Band has denied any physical or romantic relationship with Maxwell and has not been accused of wrongdoing, telling reporters there was "absolutely no physical relationship" and calling Maxwell "a monster."
- A key dispute in the hearing is Band’s 2020 claim that Bill Clinton visited Epstein’s Little St. James island in 2003, a claim that conflicts with pilots’ logs released in litigation and Clinton’s repeated denials.
- The Oversight Committee has already questioned other high-profile witnesses, including Bill and Hillary Clinton and Bill Gates, and Chairman James Comer has said the panel plans a comprehensive report by the end of the year.
