DoorDash Rolls Out Temporary Fuel Relief for Drivers in U.S. and Canada

Rivals have not matched the move, leaving DoorDash to test short-term relief on its own.

Overview

  • AAA reports the U.S. average gas price is about $3.96 per gallon, roughly 35% higher than a month ago.
  • U.S. Dashers who use the company debit card now get 10% cash back on gas, up from 2%, and more than half of drivers have the card.
  • Drivers who log at least 125 miles in a week receive $5 to $15 in fuel payments, with DoorDash estimating combined savings up to about $1.90 per gallon.
  • In Canada, couriers can earn up to CAD 36 per week, paid as $1.50 for every 50 kilometres driven during deliveries.
  • The relief runs through April 26 and follows a similar rollout in Australia, while GrubHub says it is monitoring prices and Uber has not commented.
