DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations DLC Lands July 7 With Chain Spear and Deep Endgame

Id Software bills the 10–12 hour expansion as a mobility-first update that centers on a multi-mode Chain Spear and unlocks a replay-focused endgame.

Overview

  • Revelations releases Tuesday, July 7 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support, and will be sold as paid DLC while being included for Premium Edition/Premium Upgrade owners.
  • The expansion’s core feature is the Chain Spear, a left‑hand weapon that acts as a grappling hook, allows orbiting and slam attacks, and adds dash/double-jump movement to make combat more vertical and kinetic.
  • Id Software says the DLC contains roughly 10–12 hours of content split about 60% story campaign and 40% endgame, with six new maps, a large metroidvania-style hub and recreated classic DOOM levels rendered in modern visuals.
  • The endgame expands replayability with an Astral Key progression that leads to an Uber Boss, Master Arenas, Slayer Trials and Ripatorium updates, and id warns these challenges are harder than the base game.
  • Designers present Revelations as a bridge between The Dark Ages’ slower, shield-focused combat and DOOM Eternal’s high-speed play, a change that aims to broaden skill expression and keep dedicated players engaged longer.
