Donor Pledges to Pay Final-Year Loans for NC State Textile Graduates

University financial-aid staff are now implementing the targeted relief for roughly 200 members of the Class of 2026.

Overview

  • At NC State’s Wilson College of Textiles commencement, delivered Friday, alumnus Anil Kochhar announced he and his wife would pay off final-year education loans from the 2025–26 school year.
  • The plan is expected to benefit about 200 graduates, including roughly 176 bachelor’s recipients and 26 master’s degree earners.
  • NC State says it is working with its Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to verify eligible accounts and process the payments.
  • Kochhar dedicated the gift to his late father, Prakash Chand Kochhar, an NC State textiles alumnus who inspired three new endowments announced two months earlier.
  • Videos from Reynolds Coliseum showed cheers and a standing ovation, and one graduate said the relief helps her family and opens room to take career risks.
