Overview
- BBC Studios announced on Thursday that Doctor Who: The Satan Pit Extended Cut will play for one night on Doctor Who Day, 23 November 2026, in roughly 1,000 cinemas across the UK, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- The new movie-length re-edit joins the two 2006 episodes The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit into a single presentation that restores deleted DVD scenes and inserts never-before-seen extended footage.
- The theatrical screening will include an exclusive interview with director James Strong and will be staged by BBC Studios in partnership with CinemaLive with US ticketing handled by Fathom Entertainment.
- Advance tickets are scheduled to go on sale at 9am on 25 September 2026 through doctorwhoincinemas.com for UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and via Fathom Entertainment in the United States.
- The two-parter stars David Tennant and Billie Piper and is known for introducing the Ood and its Lovecraftian horror tone, and BBC Studios says the archival event is intended to sustain fan engagement while the television show is in regeneration and distribution transition.
