Overview
- The Central Criminal Court heard that on 23 November 2023 Dr Mike Boyle found a young girl on Parnell Square who appeared grey and had no detectable pulse, and he told jurors he thought she was dead.
- Dr Boyle said Rotunda staff mobilised universal blood and carried out transfusions in breach of normal protocols because clinicians believed immediate surgery was needed and sought a heart surgeon from the Mater Hospital.
- Garda Ian Walsh gave evidence that a roughly 36cm kitchen knife was recovered at the scene, preserved in evidence, and shown to the jury during the prosecution case.
- The accused, 52-year-old Riad Bouchaker of no fixed abode, has pleaded not guilty to eight charges including attempted murder of three children and assault causing serious harm to an adult.
- The trial before Mr Justice Tony Hunt continues with a 12-member jury as prosecutors and defence lawyers examine CCTV, forensic exhibits and medical testimony that bear on the sequence of events and identification of the attacker.
