Overview
- Prosecutors confirmed late Sunday that DNA tests matched skeletal remains recovered in mid-July to 33-year-old nurse Delphine Jubillar.
- Her husband, Cédric Jubillar, had admitted responsibility in a handwritten letter on July 6 and led investigators to a field in Mailhoc where bones were later unearthed.
- The recovered remains were excavated around July 15–16 by gendarmerie teams, forensics specialists from the IRCGN and search dogs, and further laboratory analysis and searches are ongoing.
- Jubillar was convicted in October 2025 of murdering his wife in a trial held without a body and sentenced to 30 years, and his appeal is scheduled for September 21, 2026 with prosecutors able to reopen questioning under Article 283 of the code of criminal procedure.
- The identification allows the family to make funeral arrangements and shifts investigators to establish cause and precise circumstances of death, which could change how evidence is presented and how the defence frames cooperation and possible leniency at retrial.
