Overview
- DJI announced the ROMO 2 series on Thursday, September 3 at IFA 2026 and will take orders starting in October through its store and authorized partners.
- The line includes the ROMO P2 and A2 and adds drone-derived millimeter-level sensing, a LiDAR-guided 123° robotic arm, robotic legs for step crossing, and a self-cleaning base rated for up to 365 days of maintenance-free operation.
- DJI says the robot can detect thin obstacles down to about 2 mm and transparent surfaces, and that a pressure plate plus a 36,000 Pa suction mode improves carpet cleaning performance.
- To address the first Romo’s exposed camera and microphone vulnerabilities, DJI will add a Local Data Mode that severs the app’s internet link, lets users disable sensors, and allows deletion of stored data with the mode due in Q4 2026.
- A U.S. launch looks unlikely because of broader U.S. restrictions and an FCC action targeting foreign-made robot vacuums, and DJI warns that quoted test figures were measured under controlled conditions and may vary in real homes.
