Disneyland Implements App-Based Virtual Queue for November Kingdom Hearts Pin Drop

Disney says the system aims to curb crowding by limiting who can join the queue.

Overview

  • The virtual queue will be used for the Downtown Disney pin release on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and opens at 5:00 a.m. PT through the Disneyland app with a 60-mile geographic limit to join.
  • Guests may request to join the queue only once per My Disney account and cannot join as part of a party or share boarding passes.
  • Successful app entrants receive a QR-coded boarding group that must be scanned at Disney’s Pin Traders to enter and purchase during designated redemption hours.
  • Disney will not offer a standby line while the virtual queue is operating, though a standby queue may be offered later in the day only if inventory remains and some items could sell out beforehand.
  • The move follows Disney’s recent use of virtual queues for other limited drops and responds to strong collector demand for the monthly Kingdom Hearts pins, which have repeatedly sold out and generated high resale prices.
