Disney World Warns Guests as Florida’s Hurricane Season Begins

Disney reminds directly booked guests they can reschedule or cancel eligible reservations without fees if the National Hurricane Center issues a warning within seven days of arrival.

Overview

  • Seasonal forecasts reported on June 26, 2026, call for 8–14 named storms this Atlantic season with 3–6 becoming hurricanes and 1–3 reaching major hurricane strength.
  • Disney’s official policy allows guests who booked directly to reschedule or cancel eligible resort and most room-only reservations without change or cancellation fees if an NHC warning is issued for Orlando or their residence within seven days of arrival.
  • If a tropical system forces park closures, Disney says partly used multi-day tickets may be extended for a limited time and unused tickets can receive a new start date.
  • More commonly, Florida’s frequent afternoon thunderstorms and lightning force temporary shutdowns of outdoor attractions—especially at Magic Kingdom—which increases crowding and wait times for indoor rides.
  • Visitors are advised to monitor forecasts, pack lightweight rain gear, stay flexible with plans, and use Disney’s reservation protections to reduce financial and logistical disruption during the June–November season.
