Disney World Adds Security Barriers and Confirms July 4th Patriotic Programming

Disney says the changes aim to manage heavy holiday attendance to reduce bottlenecks at park entry.

Overview

  • Magic Kingdom will run Disney’s Celebrate America! fireworks from July 3 through July 5 and EPCOT will follow Luminous with the Heartbeat of Freedom finale on the same nights to mark Independence Day.
  • Temporary crowd‑control barriers and extra security Cast Members were put in place at Magic Kingdom transportation and screening areas on Monday to funnel bus arrivals into orderly queues before guests reach security.
  • Walt Disney World confirmed Carousel of Progress will close on July 6 for an extensive refurbishment expected to last into 2027, removing a longtime Tomorrowland staple for the coming season.
  • LEVEL99 opened at Disney Springs in the former NBA Experience space and several retail and restaurant refurbishments will keep shops like Big Top Souvenirs and La Signature closed while Grand Floridian Cafe plans a mid‑July closure with brunch shifting to Citricos.
  • Major multi‑year projects such as the Piston Peak (Cars) expansion and Animal Kingdom’s Tropical Americas continue to reshape walkways and guest routing which, combined with holiday programming, could prolong longer lines, sold‑out dates, and transport delays for visitors.
