Overview
- Disney, which announced the project Friday, will add its first new Magic Kingdom ferryboat since 1976.
- The 120-foot vessel is under construction at a Florida marina and will be shipped in pieces to the resort in the coming weeks for about a year of on-site assembly before service begins in 2027 with no specific launch date yet.
- The boat will be named the Meg Gilbert Crofton, honoring Walt Disney World’s fourth president, with a Walt Disney Imagineering portrait and plaque on the first deck.
- The addition will expand the Seven Seas Lagoon fleet from three to four ferries with a similar look and capacity, and the South Florida Water Management District has approved a permit to expand the ferry dock and queue.
- The ferries move guests between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom, and outlets note this will be the first ferry in the fleet named after a woman.
