Overview
- Disney formalized the change in its Home Resort Rules on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, adding a line that prevents travel-date or room-type edits unless the reservation’s original checkout date is within 11 months of the modification request.
- Reservation walking was a tactic where members booked an early seven-night block and repeatedly moved it forward as later nights opened, and the new checkout-date test removes that operational path.
- The initial Home Resort booking allowance still permits up to seven consecutive nights at 11 months, so families seeking 10-, 12- or 14-night continuous stays can no longer rely on progressive date edits to hold the later nights.
- Reservations remain first-come, first-served and members may use the Wait List, which allows up to two active requests per membership per Use Year but grants no special priority or guaranteed fulfillment.
- Members should watch how Disney updates its reservation systems and enforces the rule during peak periods because changes in system timing and new DVC inventory will determine whether long stays become fragmented or can be reassembled through standard availability or waitlists.
