Overview
- Disney released a Disney Unscripted episode that documents the new Mandalorian and Grogu mission for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, which aired Thursday and walks viewers through story, sound and operational collaboration.
- The new mission is live at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World and places Din Djarin and Grogu at the center of the ride storyline.
- In the mission Hondo Ohnaka briefs crews to pursue Imperial officers and a pirate on Tatooine, and riders choose one of three destinations — Bespin, the Death Star wreckage above Endor, or Coruscant — making each run different.
- Walt Disney Imagineering rebuilt the attraction’s visual system with Industrial Light & Magic and Epic Games, moving the experience to Unreal Engine 5 and using Lucasfilm production 3D assets for real‑time rendering across all five cockpit surfaces.
- Role gameplay was redesigned so Pilots, Gunners and Engineers get new, specific tasks, Engineers can interact with Grogu mid‑mission, and pilots and gunners see more responsive controls, a change that could let Disney create more varied missions and tie future media and merchandise to park experiences.
