Disney Tests Wristband Entry at Port Orleans Pool
The pilot is meant to limit access to registered resort guests so pool space is preserved for paying visitors.
Overview
- Observers reported that a posted sign and a Cast Member are now checking reservations and issuing wristbands at the Doubloon Lagoon feature pool at Disney’s Port Orleans resort.
- Guests staying at Port Orleans Riverside or Port Orleans French Quarter retain cross-access to each other’s pools but visitors without a reservation are being turned away under the test.
- Similar wristband or MagicBand checks are already used at the popular Stormalong Bay complex and were expanded to Caribbean Beach in 2024.
- Coverage of the change comes from on-site reporting by a Disney fan site and industry outlets and has not been announced in a corporate statement, so the move is being described as a test rather than a system-wide policy shift.
- If broadened, the checks could reduce non-guest use and crowding but will add staff duties and may change how visitors plan resort time and pool access.
