Disney Taps TikTok Creators to Bring Fan Videos to Disney+ Verts

The companies say the opt-in, curated program is designed to drive younger-audience engagement by letting creators use licensed Disney assets ahead of a U.S. pilot.

Overview

  • The Walt Disney Company and TikTok announced the deal on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, and said a U.S. pilot will roll out in the coming months with plans to expand to other markets.
  • Participating creators will get licensed access to assets from hundreds of Disney films and series across Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, FX and more and can opt in to have their short-form videos appear on both TikTok and Disney+ Verts.
  • Disney said qualifying fan clips will be reviewed and thoughtfully curated before appearing on Disney+ to protect brand standards and keep the Verts feed aligned with the service’s audience.
  • The companies will run a jointly managed Disney Creator Ambassador Program that offers creators rewards, increased visibility, access to exclusive events and career development opportunities.
  • Disney frames the pact as a way to boost discovery and reduce churn by turning rapid TikTok fan activity into streaming traffic, a strategy that follows the cancellation of Disney’s earlier OpenAI Sora plan and mirrors a wider industry shift toward vertical short-form feeds.
