Overview
- At D23 this weekend, Walt Disney Imagineering displayed a 225-square-foot scale model that maps the full Piston Peak National Park land and its visual sequence through Frontierland.
- Disney confirmed two named attractions: Cars Ridge Run Rally, a high-octane off-road rally built around a new ride vehicle that reacts to real terrain, and Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along, which will feature a school-bus-sized Audio-Animatronic host.
- The exhibit included detailed ride-vehicle maquettes showing three-row, all-terrain racers with character styling and muddy finishes, plus model elements such as a snow-capped peak, geysers, lodges and Ranger HQ that define the land’s story and sightlines.
- Piston Peak is being built on the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island footprint, which closed on July 7, 2025, and construction and infrastructure work are active under permits that extend into 2027.
- Disney has not set an opening date; the company says more details will follow and the project is part of a broader Magic Kingdom expansion that aims to blend new IP-driven offerings with tributes to the attractions it replaces.
